There are two ways to do things. I usually do a little of both.
Part of being a responsible guide and storyteller is doing the homework. I spent time 'practice guiding' and even did some trades for good equipment for trips. I done ALOT of FREE stuff for people. Again, without Maggie it does not happen.
Now its time to stop dreaming with its endless opportunities to 'edit' and change course on a dime. Years putting pieces into place. Pieces that eventually need to be moved. So its time to do something.
Of course the economy is probably going to make this almost impossible to be only a 'down home-aw shucks' guide and support a family. You have to do this right to have a chance. There are too few people with disposable income who want to pick up a fishing pole or a kayak paddle. The 'pool' of available clients is pretty shallow.
So there are other ways. My hustle, my desire is a competitive edge only the best can match. I have other talents too. Our video department, with Hank, Fishtank in charge is going to be huge. And my love of showing kids the outdoors is a big area of opportunity.
So on a wing and a prayer we lash these pieces of me together and launch into the void. Dream time is over. Pieces have been moved and I cant stop it now.
ttu later.
I got a school boy heart, a novelist eye
Stout sailor's legs and a license to fly
I came with nomad feet and some wandering toes
That walk up my longboard and hang off the nose
I suppose
The need to focus never arose
So something like a swiss army knife
That's my life
Frankenstein had nothing on this body of mine
The villagers still flockin' to see, to see me
Breaking free, breaking free
Cause I got a school boy heart, a novelist eye
Stout sailor's legs and a license to fly
I got a bartender's ear and beachcomber's style
Piratical nerve and a Vaudevillian style
I suspect I died in some cosmic shipwreck
With all hands spread all over the deck
What the heck
Then some kind of obscene and unscrupulous mind
Began to pick up what he could find
Added ice, shook me twice, rolled the dice.
